Recover your mental wellbeing

Learn how mental health campaigner Tom Dunning became a ‘surthrivor’ here. Tom’s powerful mental health story highlights the importance of improving awareness, understanding and support.

With COVID-19 adding to everyday worries, our mental wellbeing is more at risk than ever before. British Friendly’s Income Protection insurance provides weekly benefit payments to members who become too unwell to work, due to their mental and physical health, plus access to physiotherapy and professional counselling at no extra cost.

We offer cover to Employees, Business Owners and the Self Employed

For November 2019, average regular pay, before tax and other deductions, for employees in Great Britain was estimated at £511 per week in nominal terms (source: Office of National Statistics). This compares to Statutory Sick Pay which is currently £95.85 per week. Could you manage on £95.85 a week?

If you’re self- employed you’re not eligible to claim SSP at all.

You can apply for Universal Credit but the process to claim can be complex and may not provide the level of income you need.

‘We pay up to £250 per week.’

There is another way – you can buy Income Protection insurance which pays you a regular income if you’re ever unable to work because of illness or injury. British Friendly’s Income Protection insurance can provide members with weekly benefit payments of up to £250 per week. To find out more, click here.
